Let Freedom Ring
July 4th celebration would not be complete without veterans carrying the stars and stripes. It was a most difficult day with the wind blowing and threatening rain clouds.
Just as when they were in active service, these veterans this Independence Day watch over and protect the flag.
The white gloved veteran holds old glory steady as a fellow veteran looks on.starsstripsflagold gloryprotectdefendveteranheroparadeJulyIndependencefireworkslindahoopesfreedomtroups
Ol' Glory--All lines merge into one point of reference--"One country, under God"

This barbed wire barrier was near a bunker at one of the beaches, Normandy, France. In 1944 the land was barren of beautiful flowers (as seen in the background) because the massive shelling to destroy the bunkers before the Americans landed on Omaha Beach.

American cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. There are 9,387 white crosses perfectly aligned on 170 acres of land by the beach where so many died fighting the battle of Normandy in 1944.
For each cross, 9,387, there is a hero and countless other heroes returned to the shores of America after the war.
Let us not forget
Those who fought for Freedom in World War II and each war that followed.
Let us not forget
Those in the Armed Forces today, whether within the borders of this great land or in a remote area of the world in harms way.normandyfrancebattlewardiedieddeath1944soldierstraveltriptourguidecarboatshiptrainbusplanevacationcruisevisithotelmotelrestaurantlandmarkeuropeusaamericastateshighwayroadinterstateroutemapcompassjourneybeachoceanseashorecemeterygravegraveyardcrosscrossesbrigadeveteranvetmetalawardbravebraveryarmymarinenavyfreedomfreelindahoopes
The American cemetery at Omaha Beach, Normandy, France is well cared for. The French today are teaching their children to "go and thank the Americans for what they have done for us." I heard these words spoken by a teacher giving his young students a tour of the Normandy Museum; afterwhich, our group was greeted, thanked and hugged by the students... a moment to be cherished and never forgotten.
