A strange phenomenon occurred on morning. At the break of dawn, it began to snow. The air was still and the snowflakes fell unabated towards their final resting place. Immediately following the brief snowfall, an ice storm arrived. However, it too, like the snowfall was in calm and still air. The raindrops immediately froze when they landed on a surface. Pictured here is the phenomenon. The raindrops froze immediately encasing the snow in a layer of ice. The snowflakes were sealed in the ice and did not melt. The snowflake on the dark green ivy was quite visible. Its intricate lacy detail was evident and lasted for sometime before the ice melting and the snowflake disappeared. Many snowflakes preserved in the ice are now forever preserved as a photograph to be appreciated for many years to come.
